Mass Effect 3: First Impressions

The third and final installment of the Mass Effect series was released yesterday in North America. I played the game for a few hours, to get the feel of the game
(and advance the plot as far as I possibly could). I must say, thus far the game has been simply amazing. It's the perfect balance between Mass Effect 1 & 2, with its own twist to make it unique. Combat is similar to how I described it in the demo review, gritty and fun. However, Mass Effect 3's plot is the most complex out of the entire series. I found myself hopping between the homeworlds of different species to enlist their aid in fighting the Reapers. The Normandy now has a war room, where I can keep track of my allies and chances of defeating the Reapers. The desperate tone of the game is made obvious from the sheer devastation left by the Reapers in their ruthless conquest of the galaxy. Without including too many spoilers, let's just say that the plot centers around a certain end-all device.  I encountered many characters from both Mass Effect 1 & 2 almost everywhere I went, from old squadmates to former enemies.

This just scratches the surface of what Mass Effect 3 has to offer. I want to play the game completely through before I write the full review, so look for that in the near future.
