Dawnguard Trailer

It seems that I was mislead about more information not coming til E3. The Dawngaurd trailer just came out.

So, a new transformable race, crossbows, a lot of necromancy, and it appears that there are two sides to choose between. Sweet. Still no exact release date, but this is good enough for now.

E3 Preview

E3 is the biggest gaming expo of the year, and developers like to show off what they're working on there.

E3 is fast approaching (it starts on June 5), so I'm going to give you the run-down on what I specifically will be looking for.

  1. Info on Dawnguard for Skyrim - E3 is supposedly going to be where Bethesda finally reveals more about Dawnguard, including (hopefully) a release date.
  2. Info on future consoles - Supposedly, we won't be seeing the Xbox 720 or PS4 for another year or two, but since Bungie spilled the beans about it already, maybe Sony and Microsoft will change their minds and just show the next-gen consoles now.
  3. Assassin's Creed 3 - I am extremely hyped for this game, so hopefully Ubisoft will release another trailer or something.
  4. TES Online - Yeah, I don't much care for TES Online, but I still want to know a little more about it.
  5. Halo 4 - I'm very much looking forward to seeing what 343 has in store for the Halo series
  6. Will Minecraft for Xbox 360 get an update soon? - Pretty self explanatory. The PC version still definitely has the upper hand in Minecraft.
  7. New games to be revealed - there's always a decent looking game that is revealed at E3. I'll watch closely.

By the way, if you have Xbox Live, E3 will be streaming live on there. Of course, I don't see the point in me doing that since I have a DVR, but it's there as an option if you so choose.

Game review: Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition

I had never played Minecraft on the PC, but when it came out on Xbox, I couldn't resist trying it out. I did not regret it. Minecraft is an immensely fun game that has had me hooked for 4 days and counting. The sheer amount of things you can build and do is unbelievable, and while the graphics are definitely what some may call "outdated", it fits the feel of the game. There's nothing particularly complicated about Minecraft, which is what makes it beautiful. You just gather resources to build whatever your heart desires. The game allows lots of player freedom so you can do whatever you want.

While there are monsters in Minecraft, such as zombies and creepers, combat is not the focus of this game. Notch and Mojang managed to pull off a game that is not 100% combat oriented, yet is still endlessly entertaining and has a very high replay value. If you haven't played Minecraft before, whether on PC or Xbox, now is the time to give it a shot. You will not be disappointed.

The Elder Scrolls Online

Yes, I'm a little slow on this one, and yes, it was on purpose. I'm none too happy with this whole MMO idea for TES, but this is going to be pretty big anyway. As you have probably heard, Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls Online, developed by Zenimax Online, with Bethesda's help. I don't hate MMOs in general, but TES is my favorite singleplayer series of all time, and I feel like this MMO will hurt the integrity of any future singleplayer games. Even so, here's the announce trailer:

I'm done ranting for now, though this isn't over. Bethesda is playing with fire here.

Black Ops 2 announced

Normally, I'm not big on Call of Duty. But the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 trailer had me... let's say "intrigued". Black Ops 2 will be set in 2025, and the protagonist, David Mason, son of Black Ops protagonist Alex Mason, will be defending the president against a rogue robotic drone army. Alright Mayans, you win. The world really is ending in December.

Here's the trailer for those of you who haven't seen it:

Morrowind 10th year anniversary and Skyrim Dawnguard DLC

10 years ago, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released by Bethesda. That game has brought joy and happiness to my life since day one. It may not look pretty by today's standards (without mods, of course), but Morrowind was still the best, most complete and immersive game I have ever owned. And mind you, I've played many games over the years. I simply cannot quantify what that game means to me. And remember: it's never too late to give Morrowind a try.

Ahem. Anyway, as I wipe a tear from my eye.... the new Skyrim DLC has been announced by Pete Hines (finally)! It's called Dawnguard, it's due for summer 2012 on Xbox... and yeah, that's pretty much it. More details to come at E3. However, last week's update brought with it some game files referring to "Snow Elves" and "crossbows". Well, the Falmer were once the Snow Elves before they were driven underground. And I don't think I need to explain the crossbows part....

Dovahkiin looks pretty intimidating in this picture, doesn't he?

As per the agreement with Microsoft *cough* corporate bastards *cough* Dawnguard will be released on Xbox 360 at least 30 days before PS3 or PC. But PC gamers have mods... so the only ones who are really losing here are the PS3 players. Sorry PS3 players.
