Sheltered: An Interesting Spin on the Post Apocalyptic Genre

If you've ever played FTL: Faster Than Light on Steam, then you may have noticed a news story on its launch page about a new game that seems to be a blend of both FTL and Fallout. Sheltered is a game currently in development by Unicube, in which players manage a family living in an underground bunker in a nuclear wasteland. Sounds familiar, right? The game appears to have the gameplay of FTL and the design of older Fallout games.

A Kickstarter campaign was started by Unicube in June to fund the project, and it received overwhelming support, over twice their original goal. Sites like PCGamer and Kotaku gave them the publicity they needed to get going, and soon Sheltered was Greenlit by Steam users.

I don't talk about indie games often, but this game intrigued me. While we all wait in anticipation of the next Fallout game, indie devs have been releasing games like this to satisfy our hunger for post apocalyptic games.

Unicube's website can be found here, and their development blog is here. You can also follow them on Twitter @unicube

I'm looking forward to seeing how this game turns out.
